#O RING INSTALLATION TAPERED CONE SET INSTALL#

The bushing and lip seal mate with a coolant tube, if there is one, inside of the tool holder. The bronze bushing secures in the clamping cone via a snap ring. Push-out is set by tightening or loosening the clamping cone the locking screw then locks the clamping cone into place once push-out is set. The spacer unit applies a pre-load to the segments that keeps them securely installed to the spindle shaft bore they sit in.

They will then slide forward and expand when the drawbar clamps. When the drawbar unclamps the gripper segments will slide back along the ramp of the clamping cone and allow a tool to be removed or inserted. The clamping cone screws onto the drawbar. It senses an extra groove that is installed to the guide release of the spindle. It should not allow the spindle to run without a tool. The TRP (tool release piston) now has an additional switch that will sense if a tool is installed to the spindle or not. Centripetal force will damage the gripper segments. WARNING: Never run an HSK spindle without a toolholder. They press outward and thus clamp force increases from centripetal force as the spindle increases in speed. The HSK unit clamps the tool holder from the inside using gripper segments that hook onto a ramp within the toolholder. This leads to reduced chatter and an overall exemplary toolholding system. HSK toolholders are in general more rigid and thus reduce any noise from resonant frequencies generated within the system. They clamp the toolholder radially and axially, contacting the toolholder with the spindle face. Since they are hollow and shorter, they are lighter and have the ability to perform faster tool changes. The acronym HSK is translated from German as hollow taper shank. The HSK type toolholders are unlike other tool-holding solutions we use in that they are hollow, shorter, and have a steeper shank.

The HSK-A63 option is only available on the VR-Series. The HSK-A63 option will be purchased as a complete spindle from HSD Mechatronics. The HSK-F63 option is only available on the GR-712 5-axis and the GM-2-5ax. The HSK-F63 option will be purchased as a complete spindle from HSD Mechatronics. The HSK-A63 utilizes clamping unit style B by OTT-JAKOB.В The HSK-63A spindle option is currently available on the EC-400, EC-500, VC-400/SS, UMC-1000/SS, the VM-2, VM-3, and VM-6 with optional max speeds of 12,000 or 15,000 RPM Hold the o-ring over the shaft end with a finger and with the pick stretch the o-ring over the shaft a little until you get it completely over the shaft.The HSK-A63 option has been integrated into our previous 40T 15k inline spindle design, and this will be built on our production floor.

To install the o-rings over the beginning (or end) of the shaft, you should use an o-ring pick with the hook shape. O-rings stretch enough that they can be slid over the new o-rings. Anyway, you should use oil or grease to slide the o-rings. Or, start by installing the new o-rings by installing first the one closer to the beginning of the shaft and slide aditional (and further away) o-rings over the new o-rings. The tubing may sink into the groove a little but still you should be able to push the o-ring over the groove. Also, shrink tubing of suitable size can be put over the empty grooves and heated so it covers these grooves tight and remove them when installing the next o-ring. Otherwise, clean the shaft with solvent to remove any oil and cover the grooves with masking tape or any suitable tape and try to slide the o-rings over the tape. If you already removed all the o-rings either consider reinstalling the old ones so you can slide the new ones over them. Then you would do the second farther away o-ring and so on. Then, you could slide a new o-ring over the shaft, or stem, and over the old o-rings and this new o-ring would not fall in the incorrect o-ring grooves. If you already have the new o-rings it would be easier to cut them to remove them. This is in case you needed to save the used o-ring as reference to get a new one. The ideal way to do it was to leave the old o-rings in place and starting by removing the farther away o-ring first so it could be slid over the old o-rings and not get it stuck in some other o-ring groove.
